another workaround for scenes where you need an action that doesn't exist:

1) set up the scene as usual

2) take a screen shot of it

3) edit the screen shot in a graphics editor to achieve what you want

4) use layers to merge it into the project

you won't be able to move around the scene in 3d, but at least you can have a momentary shot that is exactly what you envisioned. Directing is all about getting the shot you want. Even the pros do crazy workarounds when there isn't a convenient way to get the shot with a conventional technique.

if you switch cameras back and forth to show other characters movements it will be less obvious that the one scene is stationary. And if the still graphic is on a layer by itself, you can even have movement going on in that scene, but on a different layer. The audience will never know what you did.

Yeah I use Anime Studio Pro myself. You can use it for set design, IMO it is a great, easy to use vector drawing tool, even if you don't animate in it, if you need some props, you can easily draw them. Getting shadows to match acceptably is the one thing where you probably need to be very careful. Alternately, you can render out Muvizu to targa and use MZ as a way to get 3d content into Anime Studio, you could work out shots in ed before you rebuild them in 2d. I do think these two tools make a great combination, but I would love to see some more 3d content creation tools in MZ. I wish there were more head shapes, body types, and maybe some ability to scale the whole character in all directions, allowing more variety with the available characters. "Muscle" or body fat shapes for use in the arms that take the color of the top would be cool, so you can make pregnant ladies, or just change the overall shape of the character somehow.

I am ready to buy add on character packs once they are available too. I want to give you guys money.

Having said all that, I realize that it would be great to have one software package that does everything. I'm not trying to discourage improvements to the MUVIZU product... I'm a newbie, but I'm already a huge fan of this software!

Here's one idea that would open up a truck load of possibilities: Think of MUVIZU as one module in a larger system, then acquire more modules that are really good at doing the things MUVIZU can't do.

For example, AnimeStudio has an entry level product that is VERY affordable. It offers frame by frame and bone animation, a character creator, lots of predefined content, keyframes etc. Because rigs can be posed in any way, you'll always have an alternative to fall back on when MUVIZU doesn't have the predefined action or pose you need.

It would be very easy to take a screen shot of your MUVIZU characters and then rig them in Anime Studio, so your audience wouldn't even notice that you switched animation environments. By default, Anime Studio exports ONLY what's on the screen... so if you create a character animation and export it, you can now put it on a MUVIZU layer and it will blend in seamlessly with the rest of your project!

http://my.smithmicro.com/anime-studio-debut.html
They frequently put this on sale, but even at full price $49 is money well spent for the solutions it brings to the table!

As time goes on, I will try to post links to Anime Studio rigs I've created from the stock characters in MUVIZU. Or maybe some sample video that incorporates snippets from both programs

$30 USD for MUVIZU plus $50 USD for Anime Studio Debut puts a whole lot of animating power in your hands for less than $100 USD! Consider the fact that other animation products like ToonBoom Studio cost much more

(These could be pretty big steps for Muvizu, but it's just a suggestion) Like for example:

Having two different levels of difficulty and options; Expert & Beginner

Having a puppet action tool, where you could control how the character moves their body or facial expression (Expert)

I think some of that could be quite good, but I imagine it'll take a LONG time before Muvizu get to that stage.

I was about to start a new topic on this subject of 'new animations' and found this thread and all your voices,
I was perplexed that one can find 'scratch ones behind and sniff' ? limited use surely? but not something useful like someone having a drink or someone driving with hands on a steering wheel or single handgun shot. and many of the ones listed by previous contributors to this thread.
I'd like a few more musician animations also.
playing the fiddle, harp, and double bass. for the celtic music.
After making models for these i couldn't get them to work with any of the existing animations after many hours of experimentation.
best i could do was get a harp player to almost work from a certain angle using vickys.
Love muvizu though.
