You can use sound from imported videos in Muvizu but you need to import it as an audio file. If you import the video as a background texture it will only use the video part and not the audio part. If you import the video as audio it will only use the audio and not the video part.

Everyone always recommends VirtualDub to do this, but I've never used it. My own procedure is as follows:

Any Video Converter (free, excellent bit of software)
- Create 'Customised AVI'
- Set codec to Xvid
- Set resolution to 'Original'
- Set bitrate to less than 1000k for background stuff, higher (but very demanding on PC) for foreground stuff.
- Set framerate to 25 fps

Sound is set to off - I don't think Muvizu supports audio on imported videos (I don't use any sound from Muvizu, hence my uncertainty).

The longer the cllp, the more it will slow down your PC, so keep it short and as small a file size as possible. I don't know of any time limit on imported video, but I don't think that's a problem as after a few hundred meg it all slows down too much to work with effectively anyway. Hope this helps

Success! I think I've figured out what the problem is, but I'm sending you the video files anyway so you can have a double check.

I think it's something to do with HD. In our pursuit of ever higher quality I always render everything out to the highest quality I can get. In Vegas Movie Studio I was rendering out the test animation on a setting which reads HD 1080-24p YUV (Video for Windows.avi)

Even when I ran this through VirtualDub with the Xvid codec...Muvizu wasn't having any. So I had a play around with the different render settings in Vegas and rendered out on a setting which reads PAL DV widescreen (Video for Windows.avi). Muvizu will accept this without running it through VirtualDub.

When saving the video out in VirtualDub select 'Compression' from inside the Video menu.
Scroll down through the list until you find Xvid.
Select it and then click Okay.
Click 'File' and then 'Save as AVI'
Click Save.

There was another user that was having problems with that.

Try saving the video you want to import in VirtualDub and you should be good to go.

Hi uzbeko,

You can import videos to a backdrop in Muvizu as long they are in the AVI format.

Simply create a backdrop, right click it to edit and on the texture options select import. Then just select the video you want to import.

What you've seen on that community review video was done using a post-processing software. But you can achieve similar results just using Muvizu.

Please let us know if you have any problems doing this.
