If you use say cc cleaner (its free) to clean the registry listing and do a seach for any muvizu file folders and delete them all. your going to need to completely remove muvizu from your pc and clean the registry of it and then reboot and reinstall and then install the codecs because right now muvizu is all locked up. just dont touch that microsoft codec anymore afterwards and make sure to delete all the videos created, but before you do that move the set files you made outside of the muvizu folder and rename them. Its a bit of a problem getting this to unlock but once you move to a codec installed outside of muvizu it should work. I have this problem 100% of the time when using the microsoft codec and each time I solve the issue the same way. Hope that helps its a nuisance issue that is actually pretty common I encountered it long ago and as a result never actually used muvizu haha but decided to try it again a few months later

I also dont know if your using it on a 32 bit of 64 bit pc. I personaly dont use the klite package I use a codec that installs with my webcam its almost identical to uncompressed microsoft hehe .

Anyhow good luck assuming your installing the codecs correctly and have done a fresh install of muvizu it should work. Big Grin

anyhow its related to the microsoft codecs on your machine something stays open that should not. Once it starts its hard to fix but if you download the ffdshow codec pack ( i think that is what everyone uses here) and use on of the configurations the problem will stop once you get a new video overwritten save the set under a new name and throw out the old one. I think I even uninstalled and cleaned my registry and re-installed to get the muvizu working again.

All I do is > Make Movie, then within the windows explorer window that shows you all the .avi files I highlight the one I want to overwrite and press delete. This deletes it but retains the name in the filename field.

The Muvizu is then happy because there is nothing for it to overwrite.

This started to happen when I used the standard microsft codec to render out a small test clip with muvizu still running (I seem to recall this happening once before now but briefly and I think I blamed my pc.. but then i did the same thing used the logitech codec and forgot about it.. till now...)

I know that there must be another reason it does this to me as I always run output from Muvizu through VirtualDub and use the output from this in my editor. As I say I can delete the file from the dialog within Muvizu, so it can't be that locked !

Can you tells us what you do, step by step till you get this error?

I only get this error is I try to overwrite an *.avi file that is in use on a video editing software.

What I do now is click on make video, then from within that box highlight the avi I want to overwrite and press delete. Because this is a windows dialog box it will delete the file that Muvuizu says is locked no problem. It also populates the name box with the correct name so just press save and it should render OK as it is not having to overwrite anything.

I've never mentioned this as a bug it's very easy to overcome and I wondered if it was something to do with my PC.
