your welcome

sorry i wasnt so clear initially unfortunately when you use something for awhile you sort of make assumptions on what people understand and forget that once upon a time you had to learn it too

Thanks for taking the time out to explain the different types of assets to me fazz and urbanlamb. I definitely appreciate it.

You've helped bring together some of the information in the videos for me, and I understand it a little bit better. I have to get used to the terminology and the program in general. I'm quite clumsy with it right now.

And thanks urbanlamb for all the details you included in your post. The step by steps are especially helpful right now while I'm trying to figure things out.

yeah as fazz says there are a few types of assets

.set is a set so you load is as a set file using the file -> open and then -> load

then there are the objects which it appears is what you were working on trying to import single objects
.ase are objects in the case of many of them they give instructions on what selections to use (I do on mine at least )

there are also uv map textures there as well they are usually .png files

so yeah you need to sort them by asset type on the website

as fazz says one way to get a lot of objects is to load a custom set (this is a trick I use to give out a lot of assets all at once ^^) and then save it as a favourite and load it into the set your building.

anyhow if you downloaded something and it ended in .set then use the load new set option and not the create a new object file /import option.

Its a bit confusing at first until you learn the file conventions.

These are Sets - use file ->open ->load they are .set files and not zipped it appears this is what you picked.

These are 3D assets use object create -> import and follow any instructions given in the description

These are character Textures or costumes you use them by editing the character and changing his "decals"
edited by urbanlamb on 09/06/2013

Objects should be ase files not muvizu set files, if you are getting that you are trying to load a set as an object, which cant be done. all object assets should be zipped files if you download them from here and they will be ase files. not everything you can get from the assets page is an object. on the assets page you want the 3D assets they are the objects. hope that made sense

if you are downloading them through the actual program they wont show up in any file and will only be in the set you are currently on, but you can copy and paste them into a new set as long as you dont close muvizu after you have copied the object. its a good way to get objects that dont exsist other than in other peoples sets.
edited by fazz68 on 09/06/2013

I did what you said. Went to the assets online. Downloaded a file. It wasn't zipped. So, I went to create/objects and clicked on import. Then I got this error message:

There was an error importing the object. The file is in an unknown format.

When I went to my PC download folder this time I saw the file there. I clicked on properties. It showed the type of file as: Muvizu Set File (.set). So I don't know why I'm getting the error message.

I found this wierd when I first started too. The objects arent up to date on all the things that are in the gallery either I would suggest (its what I do anyhow) to go to the assets from the internet and download them onto your pc and unzip them and import them using create object and then import. I found a lot of the newer stuff is not listed (probably too difficult for them to keep it up to date)

http://muvizu.com/GetAssets

This is the first time I'm using Muvizu. So this might be something simple but I can't figure it out.

When I go to create/objects/online and double click on the object I want, I get the message "Downloading Object" but I don't get a file name or destination folder information. I've downloaded several objects but don't see any of them in the Muvizu objects folder or in my desktop downloads folder. Where are the objects going, and how do I get them to show in Muvizu? Any help with this would be appreciated. Thanks.
