The program Raylectron is a render engine for Sketchup, it's nothing to do with the model itself (or Muvizu), just how you render out the final image. The plugin for sketchup I mentioned is just a little bit of the main program that exports textures, nothing more - but it's confusing I know, since they're both called the same thing...

Thank you guys !

The house is perfect, I will not to forget to credit you fazz in my next movie .

However, I'm still interested in learning how do to it by myself, since I'll probably need 2 or 3 more Sketchup models.

It seems to me that the easiest way to do it is the ziggy's approach (I don't know a lot about Blender). So I downloaded the Raylectron v4 "Punch Edition" and have it now on Sketchup.

I rendered a 3D model with Raylectron and here's the result :

I watched a video tutorial about how to use Raylectron, and indeed this thing have a lot of possibilities. I saved my work (as a Raylectron model file, since I don't had another choice). How to proceed then ?

the only plugins ive ever had are the muvizu exporters. i'll give that one a go if it saves re-naming some textures (anything for an easier life ) i very rarely use the 3d warehouse so ive never needed anything to get textures off of models. i find theres a serious lack of the type of asset i end up making in the warehouse .
i do like the collada route because it goes straight into blender where most of my texturing is done now for fbx assets and if i have used sketchup to texture anything its all in its handy folder when i export into blender. quite why it renames some of the textures and not others i dont know.

Interesting approach Fazz. I use a Sketchup plugin called Raylectron Texture Exporter (which I found out about from Dylly here https://www.muvizu.com/forum/topic1904-sketchup-texture-exporter-free-plugin.aspx ). It exports all the files in their original format and name automatically when you use it.

you have to lift the textures off the model and make a copy in the folder for that model. as that model has been properly mapped the easiest way is to export from sketchup as a collada file. that will copy the textures for you into a folder. discard the collada file unless you want to use it in blender or somewhere else. then use the muvizu exporter to export as .ase. put that in the folder with the textures. import into muvizu. i just tried and it works but i had to rename the textures.

but to save you the trouble ive popped it in a dropbox for you
https://www.dropbox.com/s/sgj3hpbaacevxqg/muvizu%20tudor%20house.zip?dl=0

i'll leave the link there a couple of days before deleting it, as dropbox space is precious
edited by fazz68 on 04/09/2014

and a shiny fbx version if you have play+
https://www.dropbox.com/s/rhbge81zavwqoru/tudor%20house%20fbx.zip?dl=0
edited by fazz68 on 04/09/2014

Hi everyone !

I need some help here about importing an object from Sketchup to Muvizu. As I am now familial with the video tutorial dedicated to it, I just wonder if it's possible to keep the original textures of the object found in Sketchup.

For exemple : I found this lovely house (searching "tudor house" in the 3D warehouse)

The problem is : When I import the house in ASE format and bring it to Muvizu, I just have the same pink colour, with very few possibilities to customise...

Here's the result :

Well, that's definitly not what I was expecting... ^^

So, is it possible to keep the original textures of a Sketchup objet ? And if it's possible, how to make it step by step ?

Thanks a lot,

Best regards ;-)
