Professional modellers.. professional writers... professional song writers... professional camera operators.. professional directors...

One of the things I like about the Muvizu experience is watching how INDIVIDUALS wear all the hats at once. And I tend to have the most respect for those who wear all the hats reasonably well. There are a bunch of people here on the forum who are truly gifted in that way. I won't name names, but anybody who has watched the videos in the gallery knows who they are.

Yeah, the whole thing needs work. Scrolling across transparent objects shows some frames miss the transparency, I am going to have to plan shots carefully to make the most out of the environments. But mostly I was trying to get some varied topography, Muvizu is otherwise very flat, so I wanted it to feel believable that he is going into the hills, heading for the mountains, and I wanted to see how my sheep look too

Yeah, I wish I could afford Poser Pro, just the standard version for me though, but with the morph brush and imagination, you can get lots of new characters and objects that way too. And yeah, some models just won't work for whatever reason, but I've been getting lots done now that my process is better sorted. I'm using low poly models to start with, for the most part anyway, so that isn't a big issue, I can do poly reduction in Blender as well, and fix flipped normals and whatnot. But I will keep waiting for a deal on the Pro version, maybe when 12 comes out I will be able to find 11 Pro for a reasonable price. For $500 though, I may be better served getting the iClone pipeline package.

Thanks for sharing the results of your research Braj! I'm not using poser with Muvizu just yet, but I will be... so I appreciate your observations.

The only thing I've tried to import from Poser was a car... exported to obj, then used Blender to create an FBX... but it came into Muvizu all jumbled up, so I didn't even try to solve the core problem.

FWIW, the latest poser pro has added a lot of features that I think would be useful with Muvizu:

notably...
1) FBX export
2) Polygon reduction
3) Lots of tools for creating new characters from the existing ones, even morphing people into animals (You could take screen shots at various stages of the morphing process then animate your human turning into a werewolf)
4) A fitting room for adapting clothes to characters

I just wanted to add, anyone using Poser, OBJ export works better getting the objects out. The only issue is textures, so you need to save off the textures if they don't get exported with the OBJ. Also, in the object properties tab in Poser, set it to force backside polys, then it will show up in Muvizu with better handling of backside faces. I haven't figured how to force this in Blender yet, beyond duplicating and flipping normals, but that doesn't work when importing to Muvizu. Anyhow, now I can consistently get just about any model in Poser out to Muvizu, which is really really cool.

OK, so I have made some progress. What seems important:

1. Exporting from Poser, make sure the collada file doesn't include any animation. It screws up all the scaling somehow.

2. In Blender, instead of trying to flip normals with a duplicate frame, I chose solidify instead, that made insides, also increased poly count, but at least in the one model I am working on it looks fine. So this will work on all 3d stuff, provided the geometry is ok with it.

I am trying to use some buildings with only an exterior, but inside Poser then can easily be displayed as double sided normals. I export to Blender as Collada, then edit and export to Muvizu as FBX. The ASE importer does allow you to set normals as double sided. I am wondering if there is an ase exporter or converter out there, would I get better results working with ASEs?
