Hi people

I tried some video converters identified in this forum and after searching in the web I began to understand Muvizu problems managing video files. Unreal Engine last edition didn´t goes well with video textures and might be the problem. Anyway I tested three converters: 4 Videosoft video converter, Aimersoft video converter and Freemake Video Converter. The last one didn't get sucess. The others are able to convert any video file to Muvizu friendly AVI. There are many others converters that could have success in this task. They only need to have avi convertion capability using the msmpeg4 encoder. This enconder was made many years ago by microsoft. It was one of the firsts mpeg4 codecs abandoned later by microsoft and catch by Divx makers, who changed it. That explains why Xvid avi is not working. Both converters have msmpeg4 enconder inside them and are able to codify any video to AVI but you have to choose that enconder. Those old encoders released by microsft (I think in 1997) had 3 versions.

To prove that this enconders are working with Muvizu 1.7 see this little video with timelapse sky and ground moving waves.

Hi, I tried the option Miniconvert and it really works, only that there is a small problem, reverses the direction of videos and reduce the colors to 256. As for the duration of the video, if you want to last more, you just have to split a video into parts of two or three seconds and then link them all with Virtualdab without applying any codec. That is keeping the in Direct Stream Copy. Here I leave a sample and my thanks for the help, of course.

For someone who is not all that familiar with what you are talking about, but has already had difficulties with creating videos that won't work right, I am hoping that maybe one day it will make sense to me. That is the beauty of a forum. The knowledge is there.

I am now editing using Camtasia, and it is taking a very long time since this is my first real project using Muvizu. I am not sure how it will all turn out, but I am learning a lot. It is frustrating having to make the first video with Muvizu and then having to fine tune it somewhere else, so maybe one day I will figure out how to get Muvizu to work better.

Thanks for sharing your discovery, emergencysquirrel.

The only way I've been able to import avi video to backdrops was using avi uncompressed. I made a little video in after effects or premiere and export it as avi format, rgba format, codec as none, 15 fps. It couldn't be a long size video but that worked for me.

These are mediainfo specs of example file that worked:

General
Complete name : F:\Users\Rodrigues\Pictures\BallRotation.avi
Format : AVI
Format/Info : Audio Video Interleave
File size : 27.7 MiB
Duration : 1s 933ms
Overall bit rate : 120 Mbps
Recorded date : 2014-10-30T00:00:08.00092Z
Writing application : Adobe After Effects CS6 (Windows)

Video
ID : 0
Format : RGBA
Codec ID : 0x00000000
Codec ID/Info : Basic Windows bitmap format. 1, 4 and 8 bpp versions are palettised. 16, 24 and 32bpp contain raw RGB samples
Duration : 1s 933ms
Bit rate : 120 Mbps
Width : 500 pixels
Height : 500 pixels
Display aspect ratio : 1.000
Frame rate : 15.000 fps
Bit depth : 8 bits
Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 32.000
Time code of first frame : 0 / 0
Time code source : Adobe tc_A / Adobe tc_O
Stream size : 27.7 MiB (100%)

Hope taht help

The video importer in v1.7 is very broke, it seems. It still works in v1.5, although the video is very washed out looking. You can download 1.5 here : https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=49D7234E5E7C54B9%21161

So, for example, you could use a backdrop. Go to create-->backdrop then when you've created the one you want, you need to right click-->edit and click the image box. Then you press import and choose the avi you'd like.
This also works for TVs
edited by MrDrWho13 on 09/04/2016
