Hi Muvizuer's, yes I am new to this and have been working on (when I can) my first 2 animations, well the first lil test one is pretty much done so I tried two idfferent wys to upload it to Muvizu, an Youtube. I tried it through the program, and I tried it from the site, and both times it is taking WAY too long! it's only a 1 minute video with the default settings....WHY or HOW or WHAT is the best way ttto do this faster?
it asked me twice to upload the video??..it didnt complete the upload, instead it told me i was now able to upload vides to youtube/muvizu, but I knew that because I tried it twice......I cancelled the upload twice after waiting for over a half hour for a one minute clip.

Sounds like your video is too BIG!!!

Try the xvid codec.
Your file sizes need to be under 150 megs for a good upload.

Thanx artpen & Dylly file size is 262 MB....480x360-(youtube standard), microsoft video1 codec...I don't see xvid codec in the Options...Do I need to download that ?

Edit - I found my answer in the Videos, I see for 64bit you have to download xvid codec

I had a new computer built to able to use Muvizu. so should I download XVID or K-lyte or use an online converter or what is best? I've read the Forum posts and alot people have issues with codecs etc and I've watched the tutorials. So just wondering what to do because I have a new computer and don't know alot about this, I just want to be able to make animations, be able to edit them, and upload fast n easily to Muvizu and youtube etc

Hi EEF,

Codecs I found to be a big pain in the arris, and something I don't understand to well at all, so I'm not going to tell you what you should do but tell you what I did.

While using a 32 bit version of Muvizu I downloaded and used the K-lite codecs, my favourite was ffdshow as it gave me good quality with relatively small file sizes.

Now I have a 64 bit machine and use the 64 bit version of Muvizu I have the k-lite pack installed and X-vid installed. I was too thick to realize that I had to install 64 bit codecs, however after someone pointed this out and I installed 64 bit k-lite and x-vid I got great quality and low file sizes. I now use the x-vid codec on my 64 bit machine.

Now The Mighty Dreeko mentions the loss less motion jpeg...but I had a good look around for this codec but once again I was a bit on the thick side to find it or recognize if I had found it, and never got around to asking him exactly what it is and where to find it, until now that it...

Please Sir? What is and where is this codec?

Could someone who knows about these type of things make a sticky of the locations and types of codecs to use and how to set them up?

Dylly Thank You so much for the info, If I read about lossless motion jpeg and find somettthing I will post it here. Are you not happy w/xvid & k-lite 64?

update - I did read about it, lossless motion jpeg compresses Each of your vid frames as individual jpg images (i.e. it won't grab frame 1+2 and then compres thus, and so making it easier to edit Each frame (or so I read). I don't know diddly about this but I would wonder if that means it'd take longer to encode or decode or not? I think what i read is way ahead of e at this point lol. I am still learning Muvizu and I have made 2 set files and working on a 3rd but cannot upload yet due to the size of my Avi's. Dylly I will wait to see what you think or find out aboutlossless before I go ahead withxvid or k-lite...not too sure why I would need more than one Codec program thingy...I still am searching for a good video editing program that is simple to use yet decent. I thought about virtual dub since I've read alot about it here, but I've read good and bad...also read about Vegas too...still unsure of what I am gonna use. Right now I am doing as much as possible in Muvizu because I want to learn it as quickly as possible. So far it's So Great! - EEF

Hi EEF,

I'm very happy with the X-vid on the 64 bit...I just read Dreeko used the jpeg & apparently it has some benefits with regard to putting video onto backdrops. For editing work I use the following bits of kit Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum, Virtual Dub for making transparent video backdrops,GIMP with the GAP plugin for those times when you just have to resort to the TARGA sequence to add an effect and of course Audacity for the sound.

@Dylly and whoever has codec knowledges, I finally downloaded 64 bit klite and 64 bit xvid, and dd not dl the 32 bit or anything else. I noticed when I chose HD the render cropped the top/bottom out of the video!...I am not sure how to set up all the different settings to get a workable file size that looks decent. I also noticed I don't have any mpeg codecs just from downloading 64 klite and 64 xvid...Dylly did you get the loss less motion jpeg codec? Is there a way to use the HD option where it doesnt crop out the image?
I'm wondering whT i NEED TO DO BECAUSE i HAVE VERY LITTLE KNOWLEDGE OF THIS STUFF sorry caps...can anyone please help? Thanks!- EEF

Hi EEF,

I downloaded and installed both 64 bit and 32 bit codecs. I've taken a screen shot for you of what got installed on my laptop and the xvid (as that is the codec I use) settings as I input them.

I've still not had chance to hunt down the motion jpeg codec but I think Dreeko is working on a tutorial for us!

Thanks Dylly for the help/great screenshot! that setup worked very well for HD quality/compression! it made my 1 min video 58.6 mbs in size w/great quality except for some reason it still is cropping what i shot at the top/bottom - update -I figured out why - when I first shot it, I used the "Youtube Standard" setting when I setup my camera shots, and i see in the cameras preview windows it crops it in HD so, I guess I need to reposition the cameras a lil bit and reshoot! I'll try that with new codec settings Thanks Again Dylly and all! - EEF
Update again: @Dylly, Hi Dylly, I wanted to let you know I tried something else along with your advice, I set it up like you said and gotthe above result of 58.6mb, and then I hanged the settng from Xvid 720 to xvid "Home" and then the size shrunk down even further to 12.7mb! which I think is great? and wanted to let you know about that, unless there is a downside to that I dunno, but qualitywise it looks just as great.
One small little thing I noticed did change since switching from the MS Video 1 codec(default win7) to Xvid etc, is that the lil Muvizu project file icons for my saved Projects no longer preview(on my desktop) w/an image from the project file, now it is just a gray Icon w/a music symbol in the filmstrip icon even though it says it's a movie filetype. Anyone have any ideas why the project file icons no longer preview said projects just because I now use downloaded codecs? is something wrong? - EEF

Normally I just upload an image to my twitter and use the link from there. I think most photo sharing sites will give you an address to post.

Jamie - I mean is I am unable to because I don't have Twitter or know of another site t do that from? I never did that before...I thught you just upload images right from inside here...sorry about that,,,
Sorry, I can't do that, basically when I save a .set file to my desktop, (Before) the icon image was a filmstrip icon w/an image from that file inside the filmstrip...which I thought was cool cuz you could look athe icon and see the image from your cartoon and know what it was....Now after I switched from using MS Video 1 codec (default codec in win7), to now using HD Codecs from Xvid etc now the image inside the filmstrip icon is just a solid gray box in the filmstrip icon....make sense? - EEF

EEF it's possibly an issue with the codec, that windows can't extract a preview image from it? The confusing part for me is that Muvizu .set files just use the default icon (the pink square with the little black bean guy inside it).

Is this the .avi files your talking about?

Yes, the .avi files. I think you are right Jamie, oh well, at least the actual cartoon is now HD quality though. Thanks for the comment on my short 1st Toon (I see it finally uploaded!) lol. - EEF
