Hello Everybody-peeps.

Still struggling on my first movie, but I'm not giving up!

When I drag a character action in the timeline I often see the bars turn red. Hopefully the example below should illustrate what I mean - I dragged the movement back a bit. Right-clicking on the bar pops up a dialogue box with 'fix teleports' etc. in it. What is a teleport and why does it matter? Should I fix one, fix all, and what are the consequences if I don't fix them? I haven't seen this mentioned in any of the tutorial videos and a search on this forum turned up nowt. Thanks for reading.

Teleports, as far as my understanding goes, is to do with where a character ends up after an animation is complete - as in, he starts in one location but ends up somewhere else because of the Action, not Movement. Or because it combines with Movement. Iterferes with Movement? Something like that... Anyway, this can mess things up apparently, so the teleport Fix option should stop that from happening.

I'm sure someone at Muvizu HQ can give you a better explanation than that (actually, a dead dog could probably give you a better explanation that that), but all I'm saying is that you're best to just fix all teleports after you're done moving stuff around on the timeline. Should save you issues later on when you come to Make your video.

Ha ha ha - Thanks Ziggy, that's cheered me up. Yes a more detailed explanation would interest me but it's good to know that this is nothing drastic to worry about.

In regards to the teleoprt fixing thing, ziggy is correct, and ctually the same thing happened tome back when I was making Friday Night FeEEFer, there were "breaks" in the action/movements of the character because I could NOT get him to walk where I wanted him to at the disco, well in the editing rocess you'd him skip from on part of the screen to another and THAT's when I discovered teleportation...I FIXED ALL Teleports out of frustration and vuala it fixed all that mess...and then that scene wound up on the cutting room floor anyway...hope this helps and thanksfor makin me laugh Ziggy!

The most accurate explanation I can give is this:

If a character is directed to move from point A to point B at time X (through locomotion or action). Then the user rewinds to time Y which is before time X (the character will scrub back to point A). Then the user records movement from point A to a new point C. The character will now teleport between point C and point A at time X.

This is done to maintain positioning of characters in cameras at the later time i.e. the early stuff doesn't mess with the later stuff.

The option to fix teleports will just make the path continuous i.e the character will move from A to C then to a new position that is defined by the animation in a continuous path with no breaks.
