Can anyone shed some light on this.
When I try to "Make Video" I get the error message "The file is locked or in use by another application" and no video can be made.

Also, when I try to upload to youtube the following error is given and then Muvizu closes down.

OS: Windows XP Pro SP3
Graphics: Radeon HD5770
Tried various codex to no avail.

Help !
Thanks.

Hi , and sorry you are having trouble,

Does the error come up as soon as you click on "Make Video" on the menu bar or after you have selected a Resolution and Codec?

Take care,
Jim.

Hi Jim,

It happens after selecting resolution & codec.

Hi again DB,

Are you trying the Panasonic Codec by any chance? If so could you give XVid a try please?

Take care,
-Jim

Hi,

I tried all the codecs and different resolutions and all gave the same error.
In another post someone suggested installing K-Lite codec pack to fix a video making error, but this did not help here.

Just like to say piece of kit this Muvizu is, takes a bit of getting used to but it's not too difficult.

Hi,

Normally at least one codec works, so this might require a bit more investigation; could you please tell me if there is a log and .dmp file present in your Muvizu directory?

The directory that logs are in is located at C:\Program Files\Muvizu\MuvizuGame\Logs

If one has been generated it might shed some more light on the situation.

Unfortunately the .dmp file is the really useful part - but it doesn't get generated all of the time.

There is nothing that "jumps out" from the log file, so the only thing that I can suggest is uninstalling any existing codec packs that you have and installing the K-Lite Full codec pack.

This should give you the most compatibility with Muvizu, but I can't say how it would affect other software and, of course, any 3rd party software is used at your own risk.

I will be talking to the Devs about this tomorrow morning as well, so you might want to wait until after I have done so.

Many thanks for the support.
I'll keep trying various other things and post here if I get it to work.

Just one quick idea - have you tried creating the video in alternative locations? For instance, if it doesn't work in "My Videos" have you tried the Desktop or a folder on the C:\ drive?

Hi Jim,
Yup, I tried saving the video to another location and that did not work.
I've also installed a Panasonic codec, uninstalled 'K-Lite Standard' then installed 'K-Lite Mega' - none of these helped.

Hi David,

This has me completely stumped - I won't be able to speak with the Devs until tomorrow morning, but hopefully they will be able to figure it out.

That error can come up when another person or another programme is using the directory you wish to save to, but the fact it is happening in multiple locations makes this less likely.

Two quick questions though - are there multiple people logged into the PC? Is the Hard Drive shared with other computers on the network?

Take care,
-Jim.

It's just a stand-alone PC , no sharing with anything.
All drives have sharing disable, no network, no WiFi laptops.

Bit of an Update.

Just noticed that the 'Upload to Youtube' option is greyed out until the failed 'Make Video' option is completed, but I guess this
is why the Youtube error is displayed as the Movie is not created.
Tried all the resolutions/codecs as shown in picture below (with various mixes of resolutions & codecs) - no joy.
The error message is displayed after trying to save the Movie.

Hi David,

I think I might have had a similar issue a while ago.
It might sound a bit daft, but did you try simply saving the video file under a different name?

Hi David,

Just out of curiosity - do you have problems saving set files? Just wondering if Muvizu can save any files at all or if it's a specific video problem.

Cheers
Robert

Hi,

The .set file saves OK and I can double click on a saved .set file and Muvizu opens it up - no problem.
I've played around with un/re/installing Muvizu (to default & custom locations), DirectX, .Net 3.4 & 4, the C++2005 stuff, etc but still no joy.
