Posts: 17 		i travel daily to the hospital to visit my daughter there.
i want to know the following (which i hope has been answered before).

i want to buy a new or second hand but the lightest (about 1 kilo) netbook that can run muvizu for 300 euros or less.
please point me to any mainland uk or mainland eu website. thank you.

Posts: 2220 		I'd say ebay would be a good place to start, but after looking it seems you'll have to look deep into the search results.

You'll need something that is designed for windows 7 or newer, with a dedicated graphics chip.

This sort of thing looks reasonable for specs, but weighs 2.1kg according to google.

Posts: 1988 		Netbooks are for watching films and going online, they are very rarely powerful enough to run any kind of game. Muvizu needs a gaming laptop, at least, which is heavier, faster, and more expensive than any netbook. I know you don't want something that heavy, but please don't waste your time trying to run Muvizu on a netbook. The minimum spec for Muvizu may appear to be met by some models, but realistically? No chance on something that slow. 2kg is a more feasible target, in a 13 or 14" laptop, like MDW13 suggests.

i found your recommended notebook in my local area,
"DELL XPS M1330 Laptop 13.3" 1.83GHz/3GB/250GB NVidia Geforce"

but instead of windows 7, i found it has been pre-installed with Windows Vista Home Premium;

and another listing, i found the same computer, preinstalled with windows XP.

my new question, would this same recommended computer, by you both, run muvizu, even if the windows being used is either windows xp or windows vista home premium?

thank you. i found the same computer twice in my area, but one pre-installed with windows vista, and another with windows xp. which one one of these would run muvizu?

Posts: 1988 		Avoid Xp, Microsoft stopped supporting it in April (so no security fixes). Vista is fine with Muvizu.

Posts: 2220 		That laptop looks like it should work, but expect lag because Muvizu relies heavily on the graphics card/chip and this one only has a small amount of dedicated memory for graphics.

thank you. would one be able to buy an extra dedicated memory and input it into this laptop? (sorry if that is a stupid question)

Posts: 1988 		No, you can't add to the video memory - however you can allocate more to it from the main system memory (your 4gb). Muvizu doesn't use that much memory, it's all about power.

where can one see a list of dedicated graphic cards that is most suitable for muvizu?
also, based on your comment, anything higher than "i3 chip" is better?

Basically any modern Graphics card will have "Shader 3" They tend to come in two main types Nvidia and ATI Radeon, I prefer the former but just check with the salesperson (or spec sheet) that the card has Shader 3 capability - I'd be surprised if it didn't nowadays.
An i3 processor may be enough but I'd go for i5 minimum. i7 is overkill for your needs I suspect.
