graphics card Hi Jim/All!

Thanks, Jim, for the good wishes! So, tried emulating Pixel Shader 2.0 in software with SwiftShader...yikes! Muvizu finally loaded, but screen updated once every 3 - 5 seconds... Interface looks nice, though!

graphics card Hi Jim,

Thank you for the 3DAnalyzer info. I forgot about this utility--haven't used it in years and had no idea that it was still being supported.

Anyway, after following your instructions, I regrettably received the same error messages. Ah well...

In case you or anyone else cares to help me tackle this, here is what occurs:

  • 1. I launch Muvizu (or in this case, I launch via 3danalyzer).
  • 2. After a few moments, I receive the following error message: "This game requires at least Shader Model 2.0"
  • 3. After clicking OK, I receive the next message: "An error has occurred: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt."

That's it.

My system specs are as follows:

  • COMPUTER: Dell Dimension 2400
  • CPU: 3.06 GHz Pentium 4 (Prescott)
  • MEMORY: 2 GB DDR
  • VIDEO: ATI Radeon 9250 256 MB DDR (DirectX 8.1 card)
  • OS: Windows XP SP3
  • DIRECTX: v9.0c

Any help is appreciated, but I suspect a hardware upgrade is in store, once I'm employed again (LoL). Thanks again for all your help Jim. Cheers!

graphics card Well all, thank you very much for contributing to an informative thread--most helpful. Regrettably, due to various reasons, upgrading is NOT in my immediate future

BillyBass, I hope these fine people have provided YOU with some helpful info, and I wish you and the rest the very best in your endeavors. I look forward to seeing how much Muvizu has matured once I procure a system hefty enough to run it Big Grin

Cheerz!

graphics card Thanks again, Emily! Regrettably, I suspected as much. I figured I'd have to replace my aged ATI 9250, Pixel Shader 2.0 being among the main missing features.

@Jim: Thank you very much for the graphics card reference from Tom's Hardware. Unfortunately, my even older motherboard supports only PCI. Which begs a second question then: is there such a creature as an ATI PCI card that supports DirectX 9.0c (again, only Pixel Shader 2.0+ need apply) and if so, who still sells one? Okay, I guess I threw a third one in there...sue me! Off to gurgle search it, just thought I'd ask while I was lurking about

graphics card Thanks, Emily! Just for clarification, does the "ati 1300" spec refer to the ati "x1300"?

Thx again!
