Excited teacher persuades his boss to fund 7 new machines for the Art room, (with NVIDIA Geforce 8400 GS cards) to run Muvizu. ( promises of totally engaged teenagers producing stunning aninimation work). Slight problem , the new version wont run and keeps getting general protection fault error messages. Thankfully the older version of Muvizu does work..... phew.......

Was wondering if maybe there might be updates and tweaks to the latest version coming sometime that might work for us someday. Yes its a huge local authority system running on XP, or do we have to wait till they go over to windows 7 in a few years. In the meantime we will keep animating with the original version

Hi Geoff,

The new version works on xp as well as windows 7 - but there could be a problem elsewhere.

Could you please let us know what the error message says if the IT guys have updated to the latest DirectX and Nvidia drivers?

Cheers,
-Jim

Hi TangledBliss,

As Jim says, you really should be able to use the new version of Muvizu on those machines but it might require you to update your graphics card drivers and/or DirectX.

The only thing you would gain by upgrading to Windows 7 is anti-aliasing on your video output. This does actually look lovely (everything looks smoother), but if you even have a single machine that has Windows 7 on it then you could load the sets produced in Windows XP into that machine and use it just to output the video.

Please let us know how you get on :-)

Cheers, Dave.

p.s. Until very recently, all the devs here at Muvizu were using Windows XP machines, so we're SURE it works on XP :-)
