The stated minimum requirements are a Nvidia 7800 GTX or ATI 1300 graphics card. Trouble is those are old model cards. I think the NVidi 7800 is from 2005, so I am having a problem figuring out what current model of card to get

I tried Muvizu with my secondary PC with integrated video and Muvizu runs slow as expected so I'd like to get an inexpensive card that will do the job, preferably one that comes in a slimline model

Can anyone suggest some?

I'm an NVidia person myself and I've had good experiences with my nvidia GT 430. It runs Muvizu just fine and is a great all rounder that's fairly cheap. The nvidia 9800 GT is a great all-rounder and, whilst it doesn't support Direct X 11, it'll get the job done with just about everything else. The ATI equivalent card for the 9800 is the Radeon 483.

You can pick up an ATI Radeon HD 5670 from Amazon.com for under eighty dollars at the moment which really surprised me. I'd say that, for under a hundred dollars, that's one of the best cards that you can get.

Posts: 40 		What's your budget? I used to use Muvizu on a 7900GTX, but it was very choppy when the scenes got complicated. I mean very complicated though, with lots of lights and stuff like on The Book. It was absolutely fine for more simple scenes. They're so old that you can probably get onboard graphics that outperform it now though!

I've recently had the pleasure of using Muvizu on a Nvidia GTX460, and it literally runs like a dream. I've not yet been able to make a scene that makes it even begin to slow down - even if there are loads of lights with realistic shadows, and lots of smoke effects everywhere etc. It's mad! Great for £80, if you want to spend that much.

Posts: 176 		ccliffy - a 5450 should work but it may start to struggle when you begin throwing around lots of lights or effects. The equivalent Nvidia card is the 8800 gt. Best of luck.

dumb question but is the Radeon 5000 series better than the 6000 series?

It gives you a visual representation of hardware performance as an overall score, and will help place any particular video card in context, I think. Worked for me anyway
