Posts: 74 		Hi all! I got my laptop back with a new hard drive and since I lost all my previously made sets and characters, I'm basically having to start over from scratch. Operating on the assumption that I'm not going to make the submission deadline for the film festival, I've decided to try something more ambitious since I'll have a whole year to work on it.

I've been thinking for awhile about trying to expand Busted into a full 30-40 minute film with a complete story, but I know I couldn't do so alone, so before I spend tons of time working on a script, I thought I would see if anyone would be interested in collaborating.

In addition to voice actors, I would need someone to write several songs because I was hoping to make it a Disney-style musical. I'm afraid I can't offer money because I have none and I wasn't planning to profit from this anyway, instead using it as a kind of calling-card to try and get my foot in the door of the animation industry. If no one is interested, I'll understand and drop it for now in favor of another idea I could do myself but I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask.

To be honest I'd go with Plan B now. To do an animation as long as that is a huge task. To do it to a decent standard would take me personally about 1 year. To do it using Muvizu and impress anyone in the animation industry enough to offer you a job is probably impossible.
If I was you I would concentrate on creating smaller movies and getting them out there where people can see them. Also try using different softwares to build up your understanding of where you actually want to end up in the industry.

Posts: 74 		My trouble is, I can't learn Blender. I tried. Trying to even figure out the basics of how it works makes my head spin. I could probably learn Synfig eventually, but it still has a pretty steep learning curve. That's why I like Muvizu, because it streamlines the process for those of us who are primarily interested in storytelling first and foremost. I would cite the "Hanna Barbera Rule" which basically says that the animation doesn't have to be amazing. As long as it's well written and acted, that's all that matters. An excellent recent example of this is the 2012 Russian film The Snow Queen. Not too impressive visually, but the story and acting more than make up for that and, to be quite honest, I enjoyed that film more than Frozen which, to me, seemed like pretentious, overhyped nonsense.

Posts: 520 		Very few people do animations of any length using Blender. It is incredibly powerful but very time-consuming to master. Most people use it for making models or creating animations for use in other softwares.
If you want a similar tool to Muvizu you could try Moviestorm for example. But realistically, neither is going to get you noticed by the big boys in the animation world unless you are a genius in the story-telling arena.
iClone would be the least you could use to achieve that and it has its own learning curve not to mention expensive content. There are no real shortcuts time or money-wise really.

Posts: 74 		I understand what you're saying, but I still feel I can be optimistic. I'm a writer first and foremost, so my goal is to get noticed primarily for my storytelling ability, not so much for the animation. To that end, I spend lots of time watching animation from all eras, both good and bad, to try and figure out what made movie A work and why movie B didn't. If I can get noticed for my writing ability and get my foot in the door based on potential, that's all I really need.

But over all I would recommend what primaveranz had already said. But I would add schooling into that mix.

To be honest to be noticed for any skill as a hobbyist would be a million to one shot. It could happen but I wouldn't quit your day job lol.
