Dear Digimania

Surely there is a long-timer user (or four) that you can give forum moderation rights to.

In the last few hours we have had 10 new spam posts.

What He Said It's always the weekend they do it - I guess they know there's less moderators around on weekends.

nearly 5 pages of spam.... a record i believe. im guessing no mods on duty at the weekend Big Grin
the thing is, does anyone actually read the spam and think "oh that sounds good, i think i'll check it out" probably not. so whats the point?

im quite partial to a spam fritter. many many moons ago after a good drink in the local, a spam fritter in a crusty bread roll from the chippie went down a treat Big Grin

Perfect Quote Mysto. I think the Spammers should be booted from Muvizu. They know their spamming us. A weekend Moderator is a great idea too.

They probably are when a mod finally reacts, but the spammer just create a new fake ID. Blacklisting IP address ranges is a bit more effective but even then the more determined ones can use anonymising software to get around that. New users could be blocked from sending without moderation for (say) 5 posts to check they are probably real. Most spammers would get bored and go elsewhere.
But of course, without regular moderation you will always get these "floods" happening. So Oziabla's original suggestion is the most effective, give mod permissions to a few trusted users in different time zones and just nuke the verminous little scumbags as soon as they raise their repulsive little heads

And another round...

Digimania - I think you really need to appoint additional mods now.

Not quite - the same spammers have put something up on the Assets page as well. Of course it'll be a trojan, but you can't report assets! HQ, please remove ASAP, and allow for Assets to be reported like forum posts so they can get taken down before someone downloads this crap.

Hahaha!

I was under the impression that the assets had to be sanctioned in the same way that the videos have to be.

So who was the numpty that gave it the green light then?!

Someone is going to have a sore arse tomorrow lol!

Glad you remembered me! I've been away for a little while hence the pesky scammers getting their way. I'm back now and will make it a top priority to rid them from the forum.

I'd say he looks like a normal user, his message translates to: "Hello My Name municipality I live in Tel Aviv" according to google (looks like quite a dodgy translation).
