It doesn't seem currently possible, but I'd really love to have this sort of feature, then you could have characters walk and talk and track them easily through a scene.

I think, the whole need is to animate grouped thinks : object / character / effect / camera

For cameras, it would probably be more useful to "follow" an object/character rather than just grouped, so you get a smooth animation.

Yes - animate group of objects is really needed.

Just coming up to a bit in my project which requires this and I think I'll have to defer to another application. I'll see if waypoints will help me first....

I think linear keyframes are your best bet unless you're planning to release the film in 2020
