Character Texture maps Hi All,
Tried a 'Spotty Dog'. Spots are possibly too small and not enough of them, but the idea works.
Don't be put off by the UV image on website as it is completly black. The transparent parts of png files show as black in the browser! So black on black.

Screen shot of Spotty effect. Tried different colours of skin as well. All seems possible.

Character Texture maps Hi All,
Young girl in red. UV map with letters and numbers to 'find your way around.
Screenshots of front and back of character. I've put these at the top and bottom of the UV map at the ed on a run. Just so as you can get an idea of what goes where and where to add the details. I was really confused and now just amazed. Work in tiffs and save the main layer as a png file. This red outfit is just a demo and not for wearing to the pub!

Free Video Editor - Lightworks Hi All,
Shaunthesheep, an adminstrator from Lightworks wrote..............

Lightworks is in a transitional state. It is being prepared for open source release by "mid 2011"--so any time now. But until then, it is closed source and because of this it cannot use GPL libraries that would enable a wider variety of import/export options. At the same time, proprietary elements are being stripped from Lightworks to make it possible to open source it. That is why the import and export options are currently so limited.

When it does go open source, this situation will change because it will be able to use GPL libraries which will enable a a wider variety of import/export options.

So, now you know what the problem is at the moment and how it might be solved in the future.

Free Video Editor - Lightworks Hi All,
Downloaded the application. Requirements are at least 2GB RAM for efficient operation. Must also remember to download Matrox codecs and install before starting the Lightworks set-up. GUI looks quite fantastic, very smart but all icons with little in the way of text. Tried out all the icons but did not get very far, so as a last resource I'm downloading the pdf files with the instructions and help files! What looks to be a very good document is called 'hints and tips'. Had a look at the forum to see if there were any major problems. Might be a problem with codecs available for output.
All good stuff. John.

Muvizu and mice Hi All,
Thanks again everyone for the ideas and suggestions. I'll possibly go for a new four button wired mouse that's comfortable to use. I presume that the extra buttons can be set up for keyboard shotrcuts.
All good fun.

Muvizu and mice Hi Both,
Thanks for the welcome and the mouse advice. I'll have a look locally and see what mice they have in stock, to get an idea of their sizes. Don't want a small 'fiddly one' though.
Thanks for the interest.

Muvizu and mice Hi All,
I'm new to three dimensional animation having come from the photography Photoshop direction. I've updated and upgraded most items that my motherboard will accept to meet just about the minimum requirements for running Muvizu. I had a thought today, what about my mouse, that's an old Microsoft 1000! The gaming community do use weird and wonderfull extras and special mice are available for high-speed games. Does anyone have any practical knowledge or advice about using one of these 'high end' mice with Muvizu, or does it really make any difference.
Almost there.

error when running new version Hi Zacchang,
Sounds a 'cracker' with 1GB on board. I would create a restore point before you change your card, even call it EVGAGTS450. Just in case you want to go back in time. I would also get the latest drivers from Nvidia, the package is 270.61 and is about a 80Mb to download. The CD with the card possibly does not contain the most recent data.
Have fun

Industrial-scale collaboration Hi All,
If your into scriptwriting there is a free downloadable application called CELTX. This produces 'industry acceptable' format for scripts. I've used this for Audio visual productions. Once the script has been finished you can change the format to Audio, Film, comic book, book, audio visual and others with a pdf export as well. Worth a look if you have time. There is also a script collaboration mode called CELTX STUDIO, with the facility for several contributiors to work on same script. This has a small charge for hosting but might be worth investigating . Just a thought.

error when running new version Hi Zacchang,
System looks good and as you have a PCI Express slot, also a good power supply. Lots of boards to choose from, just pick your favorite supplier. Misco, Amazon, or similar. I had a look at Play.com and there were 25 between £50-£100. I was told to look for one that supported Shader 3. Sorry don't know about 'Shaders'. If you are going to be 'into' video making then this is the time to really 'splash out' and get a decent bit of kit. I would not rush as I'm sure when the other Forum members eventually get out of bed, there will be many suggestions. The old version of Muvizu is on the download page just below the two new versions. I think it says if you are having problems then download the old version here.

Have fun

error when running new version Hi Zacchang,
Sorry, I can't really help you as it all depends on your present equipment and how much you wish to spend.
I would think that it might cost you at least GB£40 and at the 'top end' if you want something professional, several thousand pounds! The slots for the boards have been changed and have been updated several times over the last six to ten years. The first thing you must find out is what type of board your equipment requires, or perhaps you know already. There are several free downloadable applications that give a printout of your computer details or there is one with XP (All Programs-Accessories-System tools-System Information). I use one from Piriform called 'Speccy', this also gives you running temperatures of Hard Drive and Graphics board as well. Piriform also have a fantastic 'CC cleaner', this was originally called Crap Cleaner but the name has been politically corrected recently. This is also free to download and give your system a 'Spring Clean'. Once you have estabilished the type of board you need then try 'on line' equipment suppliers, unless you have someone locally. For my updated board I found a good deal on 'Play.com' a computer store based in Jersey. A similar firm that supplies the computer 'Games' community would be ideal.
I'm sure that there are many more qualified persons on the Forum that might be able to recommend a suitable upgrade once you have the details and decided how much your budget will allow! Perhaps it might be more cost effective to invest in a totally new system. Lots of good deals about at the moment even at Tesco!

Same problem I had. You need an updated graphics adaptor/video card that
has at least Shader 3 support.

Can't change sky and ground colour...plz help Hi Bear1992,
Just installed a GeForce 8400GS 512Mb Video card. Magic, now we have ground and sky as it should be. This is a cheap entry level card but does have a PCI fitting for older machines like mine, Dell 2400! A new lease of life for my set-up until I can afford a new box. Cost was £40.00 from Play.com. Arrived here (South West Wales) in 24 hours.
Away we go then............

Regards

Can't change sky and ground colour...plz help Hi Bear_1992,
Same problem here with a GeForce 6200 card.
I thought it was my inexperience with the application that was the problem!
Crank up the illumination to maximum for a little more difference between sky and ground.
New graphics card on order that supports shader 3.
I'll get there eventually.

Size does matter after all. Hi Emily,
Thanks for the thought. I did save a recent copy of the application and have re-loaded it. So back in business. I am looking for a suitable graphics card to run the new version but have limited choice because I've only a PCI slot. So far have found a Nvidia Geforce 8400GS 512Mb that might be suitable. I've asked your Technical department to have a look at the spec. Really don't know if a shader 4 is better than a shader 3!
Thanks for your interest.
