Hi there, I'm new to Muvizu, but not new to computer amimated films, I've been using Moviestorm and iClone for a couple of years, I'm so impressed with Muvizu I'm definitely going to be using it for silly comedies, as it lends itself very well to that style, probably not suited to a shakespeare play though!




Anyhoo, a couple of things I'd like to see in Muvizu:

1. Animated cameras. Having 4 cameras is just about enough to film a scene, but being locked-off cameras can be limiting, I'd like to do dolly and crane-cam shots, but if you are planning to implement this, PLEASE make it ease-in and out of camera movements. Theres nothing worse than panning the camera and it stop dead when it reaches the end point.




2. Individual dialogue. I'd prefer to have all the actor lines recorded separately, and drop them in the timeline at specific points, rather than the current method of having one big WAV per scene and guessing the timing of the line. Also, this allows you to tweak the performance and delivery timing of a particular line, so that it matches the animation better.




Anyway, thats the only two niggly little things I don't like, everything else...bloody fantastic! I shall be using Muvizu quite a bit!




While I'm here, just a question, I like to post-produce my animations, so is there a way to upload to this site outside of the program? I'm uploading to my YouTube account, so would I just post it here in the forum?




Just made my first Muvizu movie, quite funny I think, going to upload to Youtube later today!

Hi,

Yes I quite agree with point 2. Although this has vastly improved from the original release , having to cut between actors in real-time is a pain and can be quite tricky. If you had a channel per actor you could almost do away with the speak/hush buttons entirely.

Hi Scott,

Animated Cameras are currently being tested so they should be making their way into the app pretty soon.

Individual audio tracks are something that we would like to put in but it's not being worked on at the moment.

I am glad you enjoy using the app, and I enjoyed your video on YouTube - was the Woman in Red a Matrix reference?

Any other questions just ask, I check the forum every morning and if I can provide an answer I will.

I had another thought about the 'dialogue editor' idea and whether separate audio tracks were the right way to go. In the end I guess it depends on what other tools you have access to. If you already have an audio track with all your dialogue on it then separating the tracks may be tricky even using e.g. Audacity.

My suggestion would be something similar to the timeline edior with the audio track at the top (ideally with the wave pattern showing so you at least know where the gaps are) and then a line for each character. You could then add talk/shush segments in situ by dragging a selection out using the mouse and using the anchor points for fine control (as now). This would be easy to line up with the wave on the audio track. This method would fit in with your current functionlity as you're just tracking the talk/shush events (as now) and there's no actual need for separate tracks for each character.

Possible additions to this idea:
Face shots of the characters so you can play+animate the audio track before recording. Easy to check who's saying what line that way.
Add/remove gaps in the audio track itself (ie match the audio to the animation eg someone's moving and you want to wait til they stop to start talking)
Add background audio track and FX tracks for synchronisation of all audio elements.
Zoom - like adobe première - zoom in/out for finer control (also for the timeline editor)

Adding the wave output is something that a lot of us want to see, but it is not currently planned.

Having multiple characters on the Dialogue Timeline is something that he has looked at in the past but there is a massive performance hit when you do so (the UI drops to less than 1 frame per second)- it is something he would like to do but at the moment it's not feasible.

The ability to add Cues to the timeline is being added, so you should be able to align animations and audio more easily once that's in.

Face shots of the Characters: A visual indicator of which characters are speaking is something that we would like to do but isn't planned at the moment, some of the Devs are currently discussing whether a visual indicator can be added to the "To do" list .

Add/Remove gaps in the audio track: Good suggestion, he is going to have a talk with some of the other Devs to see if this can be done.

Add background audio track and FX tracks: There is already a backround and SFX track - you can add them by using Prepare>Audio and Direct>Audio

Zoom - This is already present in the latest release; it's at the bottom right of the Timeline and Direct sections.

I had more in mind a separate audio editor so that there's no rendering or animation to compute along with the audio (unless you add the face shot option).

There is ease-in and ease-out on camera movement and rotation when directing :-) I'm thinking of making this adjustable so that more jerky movements are possible, but the default is nice and smooth.

I agree with some of the comments. I am a new user of muvizu and started to make a video with four characters. I find it very hard to make an audio file for all of them and then match the lines. Each character needs his own audio track or at least the program should have a function that cuts an audio track accordingly to what one needs
