Basically the video depicts about 13 or 14 vacation scenarios that I would hate to experience... starting with getting squished on the flight between two other passengers... then going on to include everything from lost luggage, a really bad hotel, gnats on the beach, rain, a speeding ticket, a beach bar where all the girls are dogs (both literally and figuratively), close encounters with a shark and a bear, no toilet paper when you need it most, getting mugged, car breakdown, and finally a relaxing day floating down the river of death.

Action is driven by an original song appropriately titled "20 seconds"

Another good one - timing the clips to the music was a good choice, and I love the atmosphere of the rainy motel room at 6 seconds in. BTW, MrDrWho13, since I contributed to the prizes I can't enter anyway, so I will volunteer for judging duties if you want.

Posts: 359 		Well so far it seems that most of my ideas are already entered. I am still going to enter because I have too many hours in it not to. This is what happens when you are slow. I hope no one thinks that I copied their idea since I knew what mine was based on from the start, but I have spent most of my time figuring out how to put it together. Currently I have one or two more scenes to configure, then add the sound tracks, and edit it down to 20 seconds that get the idea across. It is another great opportunity to learn new things. It is too bad I have had to scrap some of them.

I managed to get a smooth, well sort of smooth, well anyway, I finally figured out key framing for a camera only to end up cutting the footage since it did not transfer well in HitFilm. But I am one step closer to getting better at key framing, and that right there is one win on this contest for me. Yay.

I want you all to know I am not slacking, and as soon as I find out who the judges are, money will be in the paypal accounts....not a bribe just a mere token of appreciation.

Posts: 2220 		That's good to hear, Rocque! We know you're not copying anyone since you've been working on this for a while. The whole point of this competition is as a learning exercise so I'm glad to hear you've be learning. Good luck!

Posts: 1738 		Rocque, given the vacation disaster theme, it's inevitable that there will be similarities between the entries. In fact, A theme encourages sameness rather than uniqueness. So if your entry is a variation on the same theme, that's to be expected.

Your comment about paypal made me snort coffee on my computer.

I'm looking forward to seeing your video. We're all still learning here, and that's the most significant prize of all.

The video must be 20 seconds or less. (Not including titles)The video must be made in Muvizu, but editing and compositing in external programs is allowed.

So far my animation is 19 seconds long plus a 3 second title. Is it okay to add in end credits? Since I used some images and sounds I would like to have them credited. I would like to have them in before submitting to YouTube.

Posts: 359 		Well here it is, finally, and on time. The video got a lot longer with the final credits that is why I had to make sure before loading it. 20 seconds goes by really fast. I hope everyone enjoys this video. Thanks for hosting the contest MDW13.



I used Hit Film 4 Pro for all of the editing and title credits. Everything in Muvizu was made in short segments in layers and saved as image sequences.

You used a lot of interesting effects here Rocque! I liked the way you start with the rain on the window, then out the announcer as a refraction inside a raindrop. I also liked the keyframing of the plane flying in.

Posts: 359 		Thanks for the nice comment, Pat. I wanted the announcer to be in a split screen like you sometimes see on the news, but could not get that one figured out, but came upon the rain drop effect by accident when testing different methods out. I figured it was different so I would use it.
That was in Hit Film effects. You can adjust a lot of things in there and at first the shape was just black and when I got that effect to turn up after playing with the controls I was happy.
I have always wanted to name an airline from Wisconsin, Dairy Air. This is a close as I will ever get.

I wanted to make the whole airport in Muvizu but did not have enough time. I have quite a few props I had to scrap but was happy to find the tri-plane. I had to find a way to use it. I hope to use more key framing in the future and hope to get better with it. It might be a great way to zoom in on things.

I did finally get to watch all the other entries and they are so much fun and so different. I am glad I am not judging. I enjoyed them all. I would love to try popping a corn dog. The Hawaiian adventure was classic one, Tony. I enjoyed the ending. I saw a special once on Cliff Richard and he was a very successful composer of several hit songs. It was nice to see him in a cartoon. I am not sure how many in the US really know who he is. Pat, you have a lot of scenes in a short amount of time. I love the ending...so sneaky. The fire was expertly crafted, Speedking5, and could probably happen on a big camping trip. The look of shock on the characters was timed to perfection.

Posts: 1738 		one way to make a split screen effect:

1) put the announcer's video clip above or below whatever clip you want it to display with.

2) Align them on the timeline so they start and finish at the same time.

3) click on each one of the clips and CONTROL > TRANSFORM > POSITION (slide one of the clips to the left, and the other clip to the right)

4) size the wo clips so they fit the space in a pleasing way and you have a nice little split screen!

Posts: 1738 		or, if you put the announcer's clip on the layer ABOVE the other clip, you can resize it and move it to the top left corner for a nice "picture-in-picture" effect

Since the transparent AVI bug has been fixed, I've added waves to the beach set:


Not sure how to remove the slight difference between the waves and the water, but I'll provide sets with and without so the winner can choose.

Nice one!!!, I am starting to like how the videos look with real life images mixed with cartoon characters, I think I will go on that line on my videos.
