This is my first time creating a video with muvizu. I just upgraded to play+. Is it normal for it to take 6hrs to create an HD movie (running on a windows 7 laptop)?!

If you mean just to render it, then definitely not.
But if you mean to build the set, add the characters and animate them, yes easily. It takes me nearly a week to produce 1 minute of animation usually.

Posts: 9 		Thanks for the response! The movie is done - created,saved. I"m just trying to create it (render?) so I can upload it to youtube -it's taking forever! I'm sure I'm missing something.

Posts: 9 		I'm pretty sure it does. I use my Mac mostly, but the laptop for Muvizu. I also tried to run muvizu on windows 7 on Parallels, also just as slow.

I guess it could be. What size are the audio files? There is probably an optimum format for inclusion in Muvizu - I don't know what it is though.

If any of the music doesn't require lipsyinching I'd be tempted to delete it from the movie and add it in in a post-editing program, do you have one?

As a quick test, I'd make a copy of the movie, delete the audio files and render that to see if it makes a difference.

Posts: 763 		the more you add to a set the longer it will take to render and if you are using the highest resolution to render in then it will take the longest. the more shadows coming off objects, hidden objects etc etc all add up the render time. 6 hrs is pretty long but understandable. i have some very object heavy sets and my rendering time was coming out at about 8 hrs so i scrapped the high resolution and dropped down to next best one. but my computer is ancient lol. the best way is to remove stuff you dont need for that shot. if you cant see it on the camera view then it doesnt need to be there. it might mean having a lot of separate sets of the same set all slightly different but in the long run it will cut down your rendering time. also cutting your scene into smaller bits helps. a 30 second chunk of video is better than a 3 minute one. it means more editing but it will cut your render time down.

Posts: 9 		Great advice! I just deleted a whole bunch of stuff I didn't need, it's still going to take about 3hrs, but that's better than 5 or 6!

Lol, I have obviously led a very sheltered Muvizu life.
My longest render has probably been around 2 minutes, but then I never try to render more than 20 secs at a time and I am very careful only to include stuff that will be visible in the final shot and to use green screens where possible. Also my PC is not too much of a dog

i think my pc has just about reached its muvizu end, but it has given me hundreds of hours muvizu rendering and been pushed to its limit for a few years. so it aint done to bad a job Big Grin

The longest video I've ever rendered took a few minutes. But then again, my computer is the fastest one they had at the store.
