Spot on Than, although the Art team are looking at adding some "real" animals that have their own models and can lip sync - I couldn't say which animals are being looked at or when they will be added.

Consistent crashing. Hi Matt and John, sorry you are having trouble.

Generally when your whole PC crashes it's a problem with your hardware or drivers - do you remember what the BSOD error message was John?

Matt- your PC dying after 10-15 minutes of Muvizu use sounds like it could be overheating - is it a laptop or an ordinary desktop?

Take care,
-Jim

dogs Morning Trystan and DB,

Unfortunately lip syncing doesn't work when your character has a mask - the art team are looking at adding a "real" dog that can lip synch, but I am not sure if it will be in the next release.

Take care,
-Jim.

Suggestions for forum headings Morning chaps,

What we are looking at just now are four forum sections: Help, Muvizu Discussion, Video Discussion and General Discussion. We are trying to have as few forum sections as possible, as that reduces the chances that someone posts in the wrong place.

Help would have:
FAQs and Common problems (all threads would be locked and new topic creation would be restricted to Muvizu staff)
Tech Help - same as current Tech help section
How do I? - combine the Help! and New User posts, hopefully.

Muvizu Discussion would have:
Feedback
Suggestions

Video Discussion would have:
Your Videos - for discussing the videos that have been uploaded
Tips and Tricks - Tutorials, guides and the like
Resources - websites and software that can be used along with Muvizu
Collaboration Requests - ask for or offer help
Codecs - Discussions on which codecs people use and what advantages they have

General Discussion
Off-Topic

If you think that there should be anything added or taken away let us know.

Take care,
-Jim.

"General protection Fault!" Hi again Mysto,

Sorry that is happening, unfortunately that error message is a pretty generic one - you would be amazed at how often it shows up in the development builds (the Devs manage to get most of them fixed before release)

If it's occurring in different circumstances from CPY's I would recommend sending us your log and .dmp file - you can get them by going to:

C:\Program Files\Muvizu\MuvizuGame\Logs or C:\Program Files (x86)\Muvizu\MuvizuGame\Logs if you have a 64-bit OS

If you can grab the log and .dmp and e-mail them to bugs@muvizu.com along with a brief description of what you were doing we can have a more detailed look at it and hopefully get to the bottom of what's causing it on your machine.

Good luck with the contest.

Take care,
-Jim.

"General protection Fault!" Hi CowsPetYeti,

Sorry you are having trouble - I have also experienced this in the office (you can do it with any road piece or the hills) - the Devs are aware of it and are looking for a solution.

I would recommend creating any road pieces a little farther away from the ground - that way they will be above the ground when they spawn.

Take care,
-Jim.

graphics card Hi all,

If you are looking for advice on which graphics card to buy the website "Toms's Hardware" does a "Best Value" graphics card guide every month.

The prices are in US $ but the cheap cards on the list are still relatively cheap in the UK:

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/geforce-gtx-460-radeon-hd-5570-gaming,review-31965.html

For instance I have found the NVidia GT240 for less than £50

Take care,
-Jim

Uploading video and it showing on site. Hi again Jamspencer,

Glad to hear it - hopefully it will get a million hits

Hopefully the change to our new website will eliminate problems like yours.

Take care,

Missing characters and objects OwenC1993 wrote:
i cant find characters its blank is there a way to make them come on.

Hi Owen, sorry you are having trouble with Muvizu.

The programme needs to connect to the internet the first time that you launch the application in order to build a list of Objects and Characters - if your PC is not connected to the internet or Muvizu is being blocked by a firewall then it will not be able to build a list of characters.

Allowing Muvizu through your firewall:

The programmes Muvizu.exe and Launcher.exe need to be added to the list of allowed programmes. They can be found in C:\Program Files\Muvizu\Binaries or C:\Program Files (x86)\Muvizu\Binaries if you have a 64-bit operating system.

While allowing Muvizu through your firewall has fixed this issue for most people some users have been unable to get Muvizu to connect to the internet at all, meaning Muvizu cannot build the list of characters. We are investigating this issue but you should be able to manually create the required files by downloading these fixes:

Windows 7 and Vista:

http://www.filefront.com/17189470/Muvizu Cache - Vista and 7.exe

Windows XP

http://www.filefront.com/17189468/Muvizu Cache - XP.exe

List of improvements Hi again Berty,

Suggestions and feedback are always welcome - there's no point in making a product that people don't want .

I tried tinkering with some of the sensitivity settings in the configuration files and it didn't make a lot of difference - let me know how you get on.

Take care,
-Jim.

Moving Objects Hi Hector, thanks for trying Muvizu.

The Devs are working on Animated Objects, so the ability to rotate/move objects is on it's way .

If you have any other questions or suggestions please let us know.

Take care,
-Jim.

Moving Vehicles Morning folks,

The devs are working on moving objects (which will include vehicles) and they are also working on moveable cameras - most car chases involve at least 1 camera that's "bolted on" to a vehicle so you will be able to animate a camera to follow a vehicle or make it look like it's attached to the bonnet/hood.

I want to do a homage to the Police Squad!/Naked Gun intro.....

Take care,
-Jim.

I need help D: Hi Hydrin, welcome to Muvizu.

We recommend closing down any background programmes when you run Muvizu - if you have Windows 7 or Vista closing Aero and the Side Bar can also increase performance:

Close Side Bar:
The following tutorial is pretty easy to follow:
http://www.tutorialized.com/view/tutorial/How-to-close-or-exit-Sidebar-in-Windows-Vista-%7BTutorial-for-beginners%7D/27223

Disable Windows Aero:
This is also a pretty decent tutorial:
http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/disable-aero-on-windows-vista/

Updating your Graphics card drivers to the latest version can also increase performance:

You can get the latest NVIDIA drivers from:
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

And the latest ATI drivers from:
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

You can also lower the resolution that Muvizu is running at by going to the "Prefs" menu in Muvizu - generally the lower the resolution the faster Muvizu will run.

You can also disable lighting by pressing F2, but you will probably want to turn it back on using F3 when you are dealing with your lights or making any recordings.

If you have any other questions or suggestions please let us know.

Take care,
-Jim

controlable eyebrows Hi again Dreeko,

The Art team want to do additional facial animations, such as winking, moving eybrows, smiling etc. - it's not in the pipeline at the moment but it is something that they want to do.

Take care,
-Jim.

Fastest fingers in the west of scotland! Hi Dreeko, welcome to Muvizu!

The Devs have been looking at adjusting the timeline speed - it's not in the pipeline at the moment but it may be done at a later date.

You can scrub the timeline back and forth - you left-click on it and drag in the direction you want to go. It can be a bit difficult on slower PC's but it is there.

If you have any other questions or feedback please let us know.

Take care,
-Jim

List of improvements Hi Berty, thanks for using Muvizu.

I will answer your questions as well as I can - I can't provide a timescale for the stuff we are working on but we are working on it.

1. Textures on shapes. This would enable us tocreate some basic 3D objects. I use the backdrops and partially transparent PNGfiles for 2D images which is great, but 3D would help.

This is something that a lot of us want to see - we aren't working on it at the moment but, hopefully, it will be added at a later date. We are working on object importing, so there will be an ability to import custom models made in the .ase format.

2. Better movement control. This is probably themost frustrating element. Making characters move is hit and miss. In order toget anything looking competent I end up putting the character in free space, recording a movement using the “drag” method with the pink dots (the arrow methodis too stop start). As it’s so difficult to control where the character willend up I then move the timeline to the end of the move, position the characterwhere I want and then work backwards. I have to position the cameras afterdoing the moves as the moves are the most uncontrollable elements.
Being able to edit moves would sort thisout. Just do a rough move with the “drag” and the adjust accordingly.

Alternative movement controls are currently being looked at - I would personally love to see the keyboard being used.

3. You can’t adjust the length of animations. Ithink there are three types of animations; a) move b) fixed length e.g. cleanear and c) variable length e.g. happy idle. The latter two should appear indifferent colours on the timeline and you should be able to adjust the lengthof type c).

4. Insert animation into timeline. This would savea lot of mucking about.

Additional ways of editing Animation types and durations are being looked at and the Devs want to do both of the things that you have suggested.

5. Undo. I have learnt to be very careful whenmoving things around. If you change the scale or adjust an object so that otherobjects move then the undo will only undo the movement of the object you haveselect. The rest of the set remains devastated. Could we have a tick box oneach object stating “cannot move” – this would fix it in position regardless ofwhat else happens – I don’t want my walls moving around.

This is something that has been suggested in the past - it is something that we would love to do but we aren't working on it at the moment.

6. Two monitors. Most users who use a lot of videoediting will have two monitors and this would really make a lot of sense to havethe option of moving all the control screens (particularly the camera views) toa second screen.

Using a second monitor is something that would require a complete rebuild of the user interface - it isn't in the pipeline at the moment as it would require a huge amount of work that could be spent on other areas of the programme. It may be done in the distant future.

7. Scale adjuster is too sensitive. Either keyboard control or a % box which youcan adjust is needed here. I am trying to use the alphabet objects and getting them the samesize is a “do it by eye” job.

That's a pretty good idea - I will pass it on.

8. Head movement too sensitive. Again this shouldbe able to be controlled with the keyboard in much finer detail then at themoment (unless I’m missing something). What about holding cntrl down for fine movement.

The finer head and eye movements are done using the mouse - you can achieve very small movements that way.

9. Animation of cameras and objects. I know it’sbeen mentioned before but this would be great. Could also do with animating thecamera properties (i.e. zoom).

Animated Cameras and Animated Properties are both being worked on at the moment (I am looking forward to being able to perform a Dolly Zoom http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolly_zoom)

If you have any other questions or feeback please let us know.

Take care,
-Jim.

Walking Slowly Hi Gontour,

You can make the character walk without stopping by clicking on the movement circle and dragging - if you drag the mouse slowly the character will walk continuously - if you drag it quickly (making the arrow turn red) they will run.

Take care,
-Jim.

Widescreen Morning,

You can have your camera window display a widescreen resolution by going to the "Prefs" menu on the menu bar. You can select 1 of 4 resolutions there including 720p and YouTube widescreen.

Take care, and if you have any other questions let us know.
