There are always a lot of great suggestions being added to the Muvizu "to do" wall of post-its (it may not be how it looks, but since Dreeko's video I can't imagine it any other way).

What is everyone's top 3 improvements they would like to see ?

Mine are:-

  • Neutral character state
  • Ability to animate eye size and direction separately
  • An attached item property to the hand with rotation and location controls. Look at the axe in the head for a reference - we want that but for hands and our own objects (and for head whilst you're at it !).
What are yours ? (remember this is your top 3, so you are saying you want these improvements over ALL others).

Hopefully this will give the DEVs an idea of what the most popular and useful changes would be.

A top 3?...Only three?

Jeeze!

Ok, well I would have

1. Facial animation -

Q. When you are watching anything on tv or film which has characters in where are you looking?
A. The faces that's where! You could remove or blank out everything else on screen leaving only the faces and you would still know what was going on 99% of the time just by watching the expressions and hoe they change with what is being said. As I've said from the first day I installed Muvizu "If this program had a facial animation system where the user could prepare expressions for directing along the timeline like character actions (or the more hands on approach style puppetry shown when directing head movements) then I feel the quality of movies created and the popularity of them following would increase substantially.

Did you know all facial expressions can be created from only 6 base emotions?

2. Camera waypoints - I really don't think I have to explain this one!

3. A conversational section within character actions -

As most Movies created are based round conversations, it stands to reason that the amount of conversational character actions should reflect this. In other words- there needs to be a hell of a lot more of them ...and they need to be subtle!!
Casual hand and arm movements. That's all!
The general movements you see every day of your life from others.

Well those are my top 3 for today!
Your turn...

All good suggestions so far, which I will mostly reiterate...

1 Neutral Mood, yes, all for that one. Still can believe it's that hard to remove the emotions that must have added to a default - I mean, wouldn't Neutral be just the same Mood set as Happy but without the smile, or am I way off somehow?

2 Wrist props. It's not perfect, but we need to hold stuff or we'll go nuts here. Or migrate to iClone or something, which wouldn't be good.

3 Might seem trivial this one, but can we PLEASE have a laughing animation that doesn't involve the character fondling their tits? Please? I have never seen anyone laugh like that, ever, except for Muvizu characters. And there are so few laughing animations, it's a boob juggling fest every time. Seriously, how are you supposed to animate a crowd laughing if they're all doing that? A few other laughing options, combined with, oh, I dunno, a facial animation system or something <cough>, and it's going to look a lot better.

...no one noticed me sneaking in that 4th one to agree with Dreeko, did they? Good

Oh, actually, no, I'd put up with the boob mangling if we can have a pose that lets the characters put their hands behind their back, especially while sitting. I believe Muvizu HQ will remember why I need this...

apart from all the suggestions above which i wont go over again because they have been covered perfectly, im going to say simple movements.

1. turning 90 degrees in one movement.....
2.the ability to move forward 1 or 2 steps without pausing in between..... maybe string a few movements together without the pauses in between... say... a step forward, a turn, then forward again without looking like an idiot stopping at each step...
3 kneel on the floor (without sobbing and standing up right away) sit down/lay down on the floor and stand up without looking like a zombie....

mine

1-Cameras better ability to move them the present system for camera movement well here is a non descriptive word but "it sucks".
2-props and an animating system to go with it (character attachements I guess is a better word) hats, glasses etc so we can make our own bat ears .. and hand held items guns, telephones, pens, books, food.. food and more food.. my characters are indeed quite hungry and are tired of staring at the food on the plate
3-kneeling and sitting positiions
kneeling to do things tie shoes, pick things up, look at items. open things whatevers
sit cross legged on the floor
sit on the floor in other ways

Those are mine I can think of others but you said 3 so those are my 3

Here is a little video showing facial animation workflow from someone at Pixar. Note the difference from the "Acting layout" stage at the 30 second mark on the video from the Facial animation stage shown directly after.

1: Holding objects
2: Vehicles, ( cars, buses, etc ) with insides as well as outsides and transparent windows, see helicopter. Please can we have the helicopter with no rotors as well.

3: Copy and paste action timelines between characters.

I agree with the other posts so apart from holding objects which seems to be on everyone's list I have tried to find the ones that would make my life a lot easier.

3 - "A conversational section within character actions" - Yeah!

Well my top 3 and not in any order as I would be excited if any of them made it.
1) audio in wave form. this would be great for timing issues
2) more actions for super heros like the ones for the base characters. example romance actions etc etc.
3) Group animation like being able to animate a crowd at once..maybe a crowd action or something.

Hey Muvizu Staff!

What's the latest on holding props? Like mentioned above, seems to be on everyone's list. The wrist attachment idea is the path that would be the quickest. I've been a proponent of holding objects for sometime now (so have most people), so what's the scoop?

Thanks.
